Marvin Windows will provide Scoop N Dough ice cream for free on October 1st
The window manufacturer plans to celebrate National Manufacturing Day-Friday, October 1 by offering free ice cream or cookie dough to regional manufacturing employees at the Scoop N Dough Candy Co. branch in Fargo. The door and window manufacturer will also provide employees in the store to provide information about Marvin's work. The application will be provided on site, and the person who submits the application will receive a second free ice cream or cookie dough.
"We think this will be an interesting way to celebrate...not only Marvin employees, but also manufacturing employees in the region," Fargo marketing strategist Lexi Jorgenson said on Thursday, September 23. "We are very happy to be able to try new ones."
Cairn Reisch, Marvin’s Community Relations Manager, said: “After an incredibly busy year in the industry, we are excited to celebrate National Manufacturing Day with other manufacturers in our community.”
Marvin has several locations on the west side of the Red River. Jorgenson said that there are two manufacturing plants and a research and development facility in West Fargo, and a factory in Fargo.
The company has approximately 1,300 employees in Fargo and West Fargo and plans to hire 80 employees in 2021. The company's goal is to add another 250 when it expands in 2022, she said.
There are a variety of positions to choose from, including engineers, human resources professionals, production workers and supervisors, and maintenance personnel.
"We do have a very strong training program and induction training program. We focus on teaching all new employees (regardless of their position) the steps of making windows, the terminology used in our production workshop, and how to test the quality used to make these doors and windows. Parts, and a very extensive safety education program," Jorgensen said.
"So even if someone doesn't have a manufacturing background, we will teach them... to make sure they will succeed" and understand the products Marvin produces. ,she says. "We have many people who may have backgrounds in food service or retail or other positions that are not directly related to manufacturing. We teach them that they tend to perform well..."
Jorgenson said that ice cream has always been a big hit for the company's annual family picnic, so offering Scoop N Dough seems to be a cool thing.
The company said it is paying more to its employees, and earlier this year it raised its starting salary to $18.50 per hour. The online application can be found at marvin.com/joinus.
Marvin is a fourth-generation family business headquartered in Warod, Minnesota. The company has more than 6,000 employees in 16 cities in North America.
The company also plans to hold a job fair at the North West Fargo plant on October 14 from 4 to 7 pm. Jorgensen said that the event will include facility visits, on-site interviews and recruitment.
