A retreat in the Mojave Desert, Oakland's renovated Victorian buildings and farmhouses in Mendocino County.Landers is a small community in the Mojave Desert, about 20 minutes from the entrance of Joshua Tree National Park. One of its main attractions is the boulder, a seven-story boulder that was the focus of the search for extraterrestrial life in the 1930s, making Landers a magnet for UFO hunters.
Most of the services and shopping centers in the area are clustered along the Twentynine Palms Highway, which is less than 30 minutes away from this house. Pioneertown is a small town often used as the setting for Old West theme movie productions, and it is only a half-hour drive from the hotel.
Indoor: The front door is an enclosed terrace where native drought-resistant plants are planted. It leads to a spacious open-plan living space with polished concrete floors, from the seating area through the dining area and into the kitchen.
The living space faces the desert landscape forward and has open beamed ceilings, Morsø fireplaces and modern furniture (furniture is provided with the house). The kitchen has custom oak cabinets and a center island topped with white quartz. There is a long table in the dining area opposite, and a hand-plastered bench on one wall.
A corridor extending from the kitchen leads to three bedrooms and two bathrooms. Behind the front door is a sunny living room with hardwood floors, crown moldings and a window seat overlooking the street. The hardwood floors extend all the way to the dining room, illuminated by recessed lighting and small chandeliers.
Through the arched doorway is an updated kitchen equipped with new stainless steel appliances and a glass brick backsplash. There is a laundry corner behind the kitchen, as well as a door to the rear deck and a guest bathroom with a single vanity and shower cubicle with glass doors.

The house is about 15 minutes away from the center of Ukiah in Mendocino County and has a population of about 16,000. For most of the 19th century, the city was relatively difficult to access because visitors from the Bay Area had to take at least part of the journey in a stagecoach, but today it is a weekend destination—a two-and-a-half hour drive from San Francisco , Follow Highway 101.

The master bedroom is located at the top of the stairs at the entrance and has more wooden ceilings, a storage loft, a private balcony with tree top views and an en suite bathroom.
Outdoor space: The balcony outside the living room and the large deck near the front door can enjoy the magnificent view of the vast property. There is also a fenced side courtyard with chairs and fire pits. In addition to the main house, the property has two additional structures: a wooden house that can be transformed into a guest room and a garage, which has an attic space that can be used as a studio or art studio.
