The September PPI data of the glass industry is still positive
According to the latest Producer Price Index (PPI) of the US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the unseasonally adjusted prices of glass and materials used in glass hinges manufacturer were positive in September and year-on-year price changes.
In the industry classification, the September index of flat glass manufacturing industry also fell slightly by -1.2% from August 2021, an increase of 10.5% year-on-year.
The industry classification measures "the change in price received by the industry's output sold outside the industry (ie its net output)."
The price of fabricated structural metal products has increased compared with last month's PPI report. The index belongs to the category of commodities, with a year-on-year increase of 36.1% and an increase of 2.9% from August. In the industry category, the decoration and construction metal product manufacturing industry index rose slightly by 2.1% from August, and rose by 32% from September 2020.
Compared with the September 2020 report, the PPI of metal windows increased by 1.2% and climbed by 13.7%. The price of metal doors and frames also rose, up 0.7% from August and up 22.8% for the year.
The cost of building hardware, including glass and glass windows, also fell slightly from the August 2021 report, at -0.7%, an increase of 11.1% from September 2020.

A memo sent to customers stated that the glass hinges manufacturer company may delay or stop equipment deliveries, or seek to renegotiate contracts to pass on through price increases.
A Tier 1 solar module glass hinges manufacturer warned customers in an email that China’s energy shortage forced it to reduce or stop production at its Chinese manufacturing base. The company warned that the incident will also affect the output of its downstream battery and component production facilities in Southeast Asia.
The memo is dated October 4th and was sent by a senior American manager of the manufacturer. pv magazine USA has asked the executive to confirm the authenticity of the memo and will conceal the company's name before receiving the confirmation.
The memorandum stated that in order to recover from the effects of a "potential force majeure event," it may postpone or stop the delivery of equipment or seek to renegotiate the contract to pass a higher price.
The rapid growth of China's domestic electricity demand is blamed on the shortage of electricity supply across the country. The National Development and Reform Commission has issued a "dual energy consumption control" policy to force high energy consumption industries to reduce or suspend production.
The solar manufacturer’s memo stated that key solar materials, including aluminum, glass, metallurgical-grade silicon and other commodities, "are in short supply."
The memorandum stated that with the advent of the winter heating season, the shortage of electricity and raw materials is expected to further intensify.
The glass hinges manufacturer stated that it is negotiating with the local government to reduce the impact of power curtailment and maintain normal operations. The company stated that it expects that coal power supply restrictions and energy demand will be eased in the first half of 2022, so that industrial production in the affected provinces will be restored.
